It's a winning weekend for Ely!

Ely 2 picked up their first win of the season against Icons 3, 42-39.  Ely led from the first whistle and some fine shooting from Janice Quarrier and Sally Shipley gave Ely a nine-goal advantage at half-time.  Icons regrouped at the break and started the second half the stronger side.  Disciplined defending from Ely kept them in front with Sue Tune and Debbie Knott attacking down the court.

Having gained promotion to Division Two of the Cambridge and Distrcit Netball League, Ely 2 notched up their first win inthe higher level at the expense of Icons 3.  Ely led from the first whistle with some fine shooting from Janice quarrier and Sally Shipley giving them a comfortable nine goal advantage at half time.  Icons regrouped at the break at the break and started the second half the stronger side.  However, disciplined defending from Alison Crombie, Victoria Cutforth and Celeste Gordon kept Ely in front.  Sue Tune and Debbie Knott took the opportunity to attack down the court, allowing the shooters to net more goals as Ely finished as 42-39 winners.  Icons voted Ely's Sally Shipley as the player of the match.
