Ely is a friendly club offering training and competitive games to women in the Ely area. We welcome all new players regardless of ability including those brand new to the game.
We have had a huge increase in numbers in the recent weeks resulting in a brand new team being entered into the winter season starting mid September. 2011 season will see 3 teams playing for Ely. Training takes place every Wednesday 7.30pm - 9pm at Littleport Leisure with our coach Liz putting us through our paces! Training is being held at Witchford college indoor hall!!! 7.30pm start. We have two teams entered in the Katie Colson cup please see Sally to confirm fixtures you can play. Thank you to everyone that came to the Children In Need Tournament - it was a brilliant fun night - we raised £157.00!!
October has been off to a flying start for the winter league for all teams of Ely Netball Club. Our newly formed team 3 saw off local rivals Little theford in an impressive first league match, team 3 took charge and the game ended 29-17, The same weekend saw our new team 1 rise to the challenge by beating Co Jags with another impressive win 38-15. Ely 2 came up against Burwell, Ely 2 took charge of the game with impressive play all over court for the team from the start of the match, Ely beat burwell 50-15. Team 3 met Haddenham for their second game of the season, with another impressive match play they came away beating haddenham 32-28. This weekend saw Ely 2 come up against Willingham Diamonds who came up from Division 5 last season, they havent met for a couple of seasons but Ely 2 kept them at bay with another win 32-13. This weekend sees Ely 1 and 3 in action come back to see if we can keep the October wins going!
The new team 3 have maintained their unbeaten record for a second weekend, their first game of the season saw themselves up against locals Little Thetford, Team 3 came away with a first strong win 29-17 with Abbie Holgate (Captain) being named player of match for her outstanding display of Centre. Their second win came up against Haddenham another local team to Ely, the teams were evenly matched but Ely 3 forged ahead to win 32-28.
